It means asking whether the available record is sufficient for a defined decision. A useful record connects the claim, source, context, limitations and person responsible for review. It does not make a claim true by itself.

Verification asks whether something meets its specified requirements. Validation asks whether it serves the intended purpose in the intended environment. A successful demonstration can support one question without answering every question about real-world use.

Start with the decision the output will influence. Identify the supporting sources, representative test cases, known failure modes and human review points. Record the version being evaluated so a later change is not mistaken for the same system.

The complete application includes tooling, sensors, the task, environment, people and integration. Component specifications do not replace an application risk assessment or qualified review. An integration map can help expose the questions that need answers.

When the team can connect it to a specific asset, failure mode and maintenance action. Examine data quality, operating context, false alarms, missed events and what the person reviewing the signal can do next.
